Dear Parents/Guardians,
Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatu!
My name is Sr. Aisha and it is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to Grade 3A! Insha’Allah the 2017/2018 school year will be a great one. The Grade 3 curriculum consists of many new and exciting things, and I hope that you will see tremendous growth in your child throughout the year.
I know that sometimes it can be difficult for some children to adjust to a new environment or classroom, however, children tend to make friends rather quickly when left to mingle. All children are to be dropped outside of the school building between 8:10-8:20 a.m.
My vision as your child’s teacher is to ensure that all my students achieve the best learning in my classroom through differentiated instruction that caters to every student’s need. It is my desire to help all my students develop higher order thinking and problem solving skills to become successful critical thinkers. Through various activities and throughout the year, students will be given an opportunity to develop skills to become socially involved in the community, to become better Muslims and better citizens of Canada. Moreover, your child will receive the best education at the Islamic Foundation School that would meet all of the Ontario curriculum expectations with the integration of core principles and values of Islam instilled into the teaching practices and programming, Insha’Allah.
Insha’Allah, during the first week of school, I will get right into the routines of the classroom, reviewing the rules and procedures of our school. Agendas and Student Handbooks will be assigned shortly, I therefore earnestly request you to look through it and to become familiar with the school policies and standards. Students will also be receiving a coloured homework folder. This coloured folder will contain their weekly homework (spelling and reading comprehension). It will also contain important letters, show what you know activities, and/or excursion forms. Please be sure to empty your child’s coloured folder regularly.
Our school is a nut-free school, so please do not send any snacks or lunches with your child that contain nuts or peanuts, including Nutella. Please inform me immediately if your child has any food allergies or health issues that I need to be aware of.
I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your child through constant communication between all three of us. At the end of each month, a class newsletter will be sent home to inform you of what the students are learning and doing at school, as well as important information and dates that you should be aware of. Please be sure that agendas are checked daily as it will act as a communication tool between students, parents, and teachers. This will allow us to have an on-going conversation about your child’s learning. Should you have any questions throughout the year, please see me after school or email me at [email protected]. Open communication is the key to a successful year for everyone.
Best wishes as we embark on the learning journey together, Insha’Allah.
